La Vera

Seeking Harmony with the Environment

Approaching retirement, P and P acquired a plot in La Vera, Extremadura, with a clear purpose. They wanted a place that would allow them to enjoy their retirement while accommodating visits from their grandchildren. The plot had a privileged location, offering panoramic views of the Sierra de Gredos and the Almanzor peak, along with an exceptional microclimate.

To meet their requirements, we designed a house with three staggered volumes, allowing compartmentalized use. When only P and P were present, they had their main space; when their grandchildren visited, separate areas for play and socializing were available.

Window orientantion was crucial to maximize views and natural light, creating a prominent visual experience from the living room and library. Regarding materials, we chose local masonry to integrate the home into the environment and maintain a commitment to sustainability.
